SAN FRANCISCO — Grape harvest is soon approaching, a time when a foodie’s fancy turns to thoughts of wine. To launch the harvest season in September, wine regions and wineries across the Golden State are celebrating the 8th annual California Wine Month – organized by California’s Wine Institute. From innovative wine immersion experiences to cool wine events, September is an ideal time to visit wine country, when the air is buzzing with the creative energy of California’s artisan winegrowers and winemakers bringing in the grapes and beginning the process of crafting the next great vintage.
From Sept. 1-30, 2012, dozens of wineries and wine regions across California will host these special consumer wine events and experiences, celebrating the contributions of the state’s growers and vintners, who are committed to earth and people friendly sustainable practices in vineyards and wineries. A great place to experience many of California’s wine regions in one stop are the Wine Institute’s “California Wine Road Trip” tasting events happening Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 22, 2 - 5 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Ferry Building in San Francisco immediately following its popular farmer’s market.
