SAN FRANCISCO — Wine Institute President and CEO Robert P. (Bobby) Koch announced today the appointments of Charles C. Jefferson and Linda A. Ulrich as Vice Presidents of Federal Relations for Wine Institute, effective April 15.

Charles Jefferson served as Chief of Staff for Representative Mike Thompson (CA-1), member of the House Ways and Means Committee and co-chair of the Congressional Wine Caucus, and held senior positions for former House Democratic Leader Richard A. Gephardt. Earlier in his career, Jefferson served in the Clinton White House and on several congressional campaigns in California and nationally. Jefferson most recently was Vice President at BGR Government Relations in Washington, D.C.

Linda Ulrich has served in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives and was Director of the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in Washington, D.C. She was Deputy Chief of Staff for Representative Ken Calvert (CA-44) and most recently, Director of Oversight for the Congressional Committee on House Administration. Ulrich, who grew up in California, also served as president of the California State Society.

"Charles and Linda have extensive senior level public policy experience on Capitol Hill working with the California delegation, House and Senate Leadership, key committees and federal agencies," said Koch. "I am so pleased to have them join Wine Institute."

Wine Institute is the public policy advocacy group representing 1,000 California wineries and affiliated businesses responsible for 85 percent of the nation's wine production and 90 percent of U.S. wine exports. The California wine industry generates 820,000 jobs in the U.S. and attracts more than 21 million visitors to the state's wine regions each year.
