Wine Institute Appoints Allison Jordan Director of Environmental Affairs

Jul 15, 2008 Allison Jordan

SAN FRANCISCO — Allison Jordan has been named Director of Environmental Affairs at Wine Institute, a new department to oversee the sustainable winegrowing program and environmental issues. Jordan, who joined Wine Institute in 2004, was previously Communications Programs Manager and also Executive Director of the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA), a position she will continue to hold. CSWA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, incorporated in 2003 by Wine Institute and the California Association of Winegrape Growers to promote environmental stewardship and social responsibility in the state's wine community.

"Allison's skills in communicating, grant writing and relationship building have significantly advanced our sustainable winegrowing program," said Robert P. (Bobby) Koch, President and CEO of Wine Institute. "She is skilled in bringing together the individuals and organizations involved in the CSWA program and achieving common goals. Her exceptional efforts will help continue the successful implementation of our sustainable winegrowing program and contribute to other environmental issues at Wine Institute."

Jordan also represents Wine Institute as a plenary member of the California Environmental Dialogue, a group comprised of national and statewide environmental organizations, key federal, state, and local environmental regulators, and business groups, industries and corporations engaged in formal dialogue about improving environmental protection in the state.

Previously, she was a senior associate at SureHarvest, a sustainable agriculture and natural resources consulting firm, and served as vice president and acting executive director of Resource Renewal Institute, a non-governmental environmental organization. Since 2001, she has been a fellow in the German Marshall Fund's American Marshall Memorial Fellowship program. She holds a master's degree from the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley and a bachelor of arts in Psychology from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA.
